Lessons Learned
Luke 19:1-10

1. Ever since Luke 9:51 Jesus has been headed toward Jerusalem.
2. Levi, one of the 12 disciples, had been a tax collector.
3. Josephus, the Jewish historian, called Jericho the ‘divine region’ due to its productivity.
4. Jericho was called the city of Palms.
5. Zacchaeus’ name means, ‘pure, innocent’.
6. “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
7. Small in stature meant Zacchaeus was less than 5 feet tall. IVP (InterVarsity Press) Bible Background
8. Jesus always sees those who are seeking Him.
9. “Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.” Hebrews 4:7
10. “...behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV)
11. The importance of an event will determine how much you are willing to sacrifice to make it a reality.
12. A Jewish welcome involved a kiss on the cheek and a foot washing.
13. Luke 19:10 is the ‘John 3:16’ of Luke.

15. “If you are not seeking the Lord, the Devil is seeking you. If you are not seeking the Lord, judgment is at your heels." In the pursuit of the Christian life, it's not enough simply to wake up & visit church. You are called to run to Jesus! Zaccheus was a man who ran to see who Jesus was!” Charles Spurgeon
16. D. L. Moody on verse 10:
“To me this is one of the sweetest verses in the whole Bible. In this one short sentence we are told what Christ came into this world for. He came for a purpose, He came to do a work. He came not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
17. Application:
· Seeking Jesus is the path to blessing.
· What would you have to clean up before you welcome Jesus into your home?
· What are you willing to do to get a better view of Jesus?
· A relationship with Jesus prompts you to do what you can to make restitution for those you have wronged.
