Lessons Learned
1 Thessalonians 3
by Wayne Gaeddert
1. Don’t overlook opportunities you may have to be a ‘Timothy’ to someone who is discouraged.
2. Who do you look back at with fond memories because of the difference they made in your life?
3. Have you thanked God for what He has done in your life? Or the life of someone else?
4. Are you worried more about someone’s physical or spiritual condition?
5. What have you done out of concern for the spiritual state of someone?
6. How well are you abounding in love for one another (v. 12)?
7. What steps are you taking to address what is lacking in your faith (v. 10)?
8. “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:2-3
9. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
10. “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
11. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matt. 5:43-44
12. “Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.” 1 John 3:13
13. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8
14. “And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.” 1 John 4:21
15. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9
16. Application:
· We all experience the moment when we need a ‘Timothy’ to come along side of us to encourage and strengthen us.
· Standing firm in the face of trials encourages others in their spiritual walk.
· Christians are subject to the trials and tribulation of this life.
Growth in the Christian walk is a lifelong project for every Christian.
