2. Topaz- A precious stone much prized by jewelers, and is considered one of the more beautiful ornamental stones.

3. Onyx- Two colored mostly translucent stone that the priests wore on their breast piece. Exodus 25:7

4. Sapphire- Usually blue, only diamonds are harder.

5. Gold of Ophir is the most precious gold in the ancient near East. The exact geographical region is unknown.

6. Man can bring light to the treasures hidden in the earth, but to find wisdom, man but mine for it in the treasury of God’s Word.

7. Man’s wisdom is limited to discovery of earthly things.

8. Pagan religions can not impart wisdom to you.

9. Verse 25 indicates that God precisely measured out the elements of creation in order for earth to be the perfect dwelling for mankind.

10. God’s wisdom is found by fearing and obeying Him.

11. Job’s relationship with God taught him that wisdom is found in fearing God and understanding is found by turning away from evil.

12. Abaddon- Hebrew word that means “to perish,” death or Sheol. It means the place of utter destruction.

12. Application:

  • Man’s wisdom is to use his mind to explore and understand creation.

  • True wisdom is not a commodity that can be purchased.

  • True wisdom belongs to God alone.

  • True wisdom comes when you submit to what God has revealed in His Word.
