Ezekiel 16, 23, and Psalm 139

by Wayne Gaeddert

1. God values (loves) you more than you can comprehend.

2. God’s discipline (judgment) is intended to turn you back to Him.

3. God is the designer of your DNA and He does not make mistakes.

4. You can not ‘do’ anything that will cause God to love you more.

5. You can not ‘do’ anything that will cause God to love you less.

6. For what reasons do people devalue God?

7. Make a list of ways God has been gracious to you (count your blessings) and thank Him for each one.

8. “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127:4-5

7-12 There is no place you can go to escape God.

13-16 An illustration of verses 7-12.

17-18 David exclaims how delightful this ‘knowledge of God’s knowledge’ is.

19-22 David affirms his loyalty to the Lord.

23-24 David invites God to continue examining his inner life in order to purge it from all that hinders him from walking in the way everlasting.

12. Application:

·       Your values (what you think is the most important) determine how you will honor or fail to honor God.

·       Christ demonstrated how much He values your life by dying for you while you were still a sinner. (Romans 5:8 paraphrase)

·       Ask God to search out your heart and try your thoughts (Psalm 139:23) to see if God reveals to you an offensive practice (Psalm 139:24) that needs repentance.
