Lessons Learned
Jonah 3-4
by Wayne Gaeddert
1. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:44
2. We serve a God of second chances.
3. Repentance turns the heart of God.
4. Take what ever is bothering you to the Lord.
5. “For God shows no partiality.” Romans 2:11
6. Grace—being blessed with what you do not deserve.
7. Mercy—not getting the judgment you do deserve.
8. Nineveh was a metropolitan area surrounded by smaller suburbs which historically were considered part of the city.
9. Since the book is about Jonah, the message he preached in Nineveh is summed up with the words, “Yet 40 days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.”
10. People made in the image of God are more valuable than any self-centered excuse or prejudice you hide behind to marginalize someone.
11. Application:
· Prejudice hinders what God can accomplish through you.
· Self-centered people do not rejoice when others are blessed.
· God loves people from all nations.
· God ‘appoints’ things in our lives to help us grow spiritually.
