Lessons Learned

Hosea 6:1-7:2

by Wayne Gaeddert

1. God is dependable. You can trust Him to work out the details of your life for good. See Romans 8:28

2. Love for the Lord comes before service for the Lord.

3. God’s Word:

Spoke all of creation into existence.

Calmed the troubled sea.

Healed the sick.

Forgives sin.

Accomplishes what He pleases. Isaiah 55:11

When hidden in the heart, prevents sin. Psalm 119:11

Is a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

4. ‘Adam’ and ‘man’ are both the same Hebrew word (v7).

5. Gilead was east of the Jordan river between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea.

6. Shechem was a religious center, a city of refuge, and the place where the tabernacle was originally set up in the Promised Land.

7. It is impossible to hide a ‘secret’ sin from God.

8. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” Galatians 6:7 (NKJV)

9. God does not want religious activity from us, He wants a relationship with us that leads us into service for Him.

10. Application:

·        “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.” Mark 12:30

·        Loving God is a matter of loyalty to Him in all areas of your life. (You can not be loyal without knowing what He expects from His followers.)

·        God wants to restore to fellowship those who have strayed.
