2 Kings 12:4-16

4. There were nine dynasties that ruled in Israel (the northern kingdom). There was only one dynasty in Judah, the house of David.
5. Joash was 7 years old when he began to reign. 2 Chron. 24:7
6. Joash the son of Ahaziah (2 Kings 11:2) and his mother was Zibiah (2 Kings 12:2).
7. Joash was a good king as long as Jehoiada the priest lived. Jehoiada lived to be 130 years old. 2 Chron. 24:15
8. The temple had been damaged by Athaliah. 2 Chron. 24:7
9. In the culture of this time a temple that was in disrepair was viewed as being disrespectful to the deity it represented.
10. The temple that Solomon built is 125-150 years old by the time Joash is king.
11. God blessed Joash’s plan to repair the temple, people gave generously to the cause.
12. Application:
· When plan A is not producing results, it is time to evaluate what changes need to be made to accomplish the goal.
· Honest qualified workers do not need much supervision to produce quality results.
· Assign responsibilities within the skill set of those you want to complete the work.
