2 Kings 19;10-19, 32-34

1. Sennacherib’s attack against the fortified cities of Judah took place in 701 B.C.

2. Samaria fell to Assyria in 722 B.C.

3. Isaiah 37 and 2 Chronicles 32 are parallel passages.

4. Our problems are opportunities for God to show His love and mercy in our lives.

5. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV)

6. “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” Romans 8:26 (ESV)

7. “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16b (NIV)

8. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:44 (ESV)

9. “The Lord is far from the wicked,
    but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” Proverbs 15:29 (ESV)

10. “And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Revelation 5:8 (ESV)

14. Application:

·        Prayer should be our first response to crisis.

  • Prayer affirms our dependence on God to provide for our needs.

  • How do your prayers bring glory to God? (See v 15 & 19)

  • Our prayers are in golden bowls and are like incense before Jesus in Heaven. (See #10, Rev. 5:8)
