Genesis 3:1-7, 21-24
Lessons Learned

1. Genesis 3 points out our need for a savior.
2. ‘Crafty in verse one means ‘cunning’ and informs us to be cautious.
3. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 ESV
4. “And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him” Rev. 12:9 ESV
5. “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44 ESV
6. God takes the initiative in salvation, demonstrating the very thing Satan got Eve to doubt—His love.
7. Sin will take you farther than you want to go.
8. Sin interrupts your relationship with God.
9. Man’s method of dealing with sin did not meet with God’s approval.
10. Sin has its beginning when you believe the lie.
11. “Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” James 1:15 ESV
12. When you focus on the blessings God has given you, you are less likely to be tempted to covet what you do not have.
13. “Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.” Rev 22:14 ESV
14. Application:
· Temptation is not sin, but yielding to temptation is sin.
· Temptation does not reveal the cost of yielding to temptation.
· “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 ESV
