Genesis 4:1-16
Lessons Learned

1. Eve- ‘The mother of all living.’ Genesis 3:20
2. Cain means ‘to acquire.’
3. Abel means, ‘breath’, ‘vapor’, or ‘weakness.’
4. Cain was angry at God, but took his anger out on his brother.
5. The offerings that we give to the Lord is a measure of our love for Him.
6. “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
7. Cain planned his sinful act in advance, unlike Adam and Eve.
8. We can not hide our sin from God. “...be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23b
9. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
10. Application:
· Unresolved anger will turn into sin.
· God has taken the first step to restore our relationship with Him—He sent Jesus to pay our sin debt.
· We must take responsibility for our sin.
“If we confess (agree with God) our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
