Lessons Learned

1. You can not win the battle if you are fighting against God. See Prov. 21:30
2. God used the counsel of a non-believer to protect the lives of the apostles. God can move the heart of anyone he chooses to accomplish his purpose. See Prov 21:1
3. When persecution is directed at you, learn from the apostles how to rejoice in suffering.
4. Do not allow persecution to silence your testimony or witness for Jesus.
5. When forced to choose between obeying man's rules or God's command, obey God.
6. Peter was preaching repentance and forgiveness as he testified before the Sanhedrin.
7. Sometimes following the will of God will put you in the path of suffering in the name of Jesus.

11. A savior is one who saves you from danger or destruction.
12. A summary of the effectiveness of the apostles’ teaching and preaching:
3,000 baptized. Acts 2:41
Day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:47
5,000 believed. Acts 4:4
More and more believers were added to the church. Acts 5:14
13. Application:
Obeying God is the highest calling of men, women, and children.
Obeying God may lead to suffering.
Suffering for the sake of Jesus is cause for rejoicing.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12 ESV
