Leviticus 26:1-13
Lessons Learned

1. God expects his people to live a holy lifestyle.
2. To be effective as an ambassador of God, being obedient to his commands is of paramount importance.
3. The Hebrew word for idol means ‘a nothing.’
4. Leviticus chapter 26, verses 4 – 13 describe 7 areas of blessing:
Agricultural blessing- Rain.
Abundant harvests.
You will be at peace (domestic, wild animal, national).
Military superiority.
Abundant food resources.
You will be fruitful and multiply.
God will tabernacle with his people. (See John 1:14 “...made his dwelling among us...”)
5. “...and they will call him Immanuel (which means 'God with us').” Matt. 1:23
6. Without obedience, God cannot bless his people.
7. Sacrifice without obedience is meaningless.
8. “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Proverbs 3:11-12
9. God disciplines his children in order that they may share in his holiness. Heb. 12:10
10. God’s discipline grows more severe when his children refuse to repent.
11. “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Heb. 12:11
11. God prefers to bless his people rather than to discipline them.
12. Leviticus chapter 26 verses 14 – 39 describe 5 levels of curses due to disobedience:
People will be subject to disease and their enemies will defeat them.
The soil will not yield it crops.
Wild animals will rob you of your children and destroy the cattle.
Enemies will lay siege to the cities.
Enemies will carry you into exile.
13. God provides hope for those who confess their sins.
14. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
15. Repentance and being humble are the opposite of pride and arrogance.
16. Leviticus chapters 17 through 26 have been called the holiness code. God instructed the Israelites on how to set themselves apart from other nations in order to show the nations how to honor the Lord. Dr. Kevin Shrum
17. Application:
· Jesus wants a full-time commitment from us to Him. See #2
· Obedience is the key to God’s blessing. Without obedience, you set yourself up to be disciplined by God.
· The ultimate blessing from God is the Holy Spirit dwelling in your heart.
