Philippians 4:1-9

by Wayne Gaeddert

1. Christians are commanded to ‘stand firm in the Lord.’

2. Don’t allow a disagreement to become a dispute that distracts or impacts the work of the Lord.

3. Do what you can to help others resolve issues that divide them.

4. Take your problems to the Lord in prayer before your heart is hardened to the issue at hand.

5. “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

6. Where you allow your mind to spend time will impact your beliefs, actions, and words.

7. “There is a war for your mind; books, magazines, billboards, television, movies, internet, etc. The goal of the anti-god world system is to control our actions by first controlling our minds.” Unknown

8. Positive thoughts will have a positive impact on your life.

9. Negative thoughts will have a negative impact on your life.

10. Chose to follow after leaders that have demonstrated by word and deed that they love Jesus.

11. The God of peace rules in the lives of those who humbly live for Him.

12. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
    and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2

13. Application:

·        Don’t allow false teachers to sway your beliefs—Stand firm in the Lord.

·        Anxiety destroys your peace. Take your anxiety (burden) to the Lord for Him to bear.
