2. Just before Jesus went out to the garden of Gethsemane, Peter was overconfident that he could be capable of denying Jesus. Luke 22:31-33
3. “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
4. Overconfidence leads to failure.
5. Guilt lead Peter to bitter tears and repentance.
6. When you feel as though you have let God down, remember:
· Peter repented
· God restored Peter
· God used Peter
7. “...Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Psalm 30:5b
8. Denial compounds our sin, confession conceals it.
9. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
10. “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1-2
11. Peter was broken by his sin.

13. The word deny is the opposite of confess.
14. Scripture teaches us to confess Christ (Romans 10:9-10) and to deny self (Luke 9:23-24).
15. Webster says that to deny is to declare (something) to be untrue or to refuse to admit or acknowledge (something).
16. Peter’s response of ‘Woman’ in verse 57 is equivalent to saying ma’am.
17. Without the power of the Holy Spirit, you can not be bold within the camp of the enemy.
18. Don’t allow yourself to be defined by your failures.
19. The three denials of Peter:
20. Sorrow and guilt are the result of denying Jesus.
21. Application:
· Don’t be defined by a failure.
· Confession of your sin results in forgiveness.
· God uses those who humbly depend on the power of the Holy Spirit.
· In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
