by Wayne Gaeddert

1. “Sin will rob you of what is God’s best for you.” Dr. T. J. Betts

2. God would rather hear your prayer of repentance than your boast of service.

3. Only God can heal the deceitful and wicked heart of man.

4. Turning to God in repentance puts you in position for God’s favor instead of His wrath. See Romans 2:5

5. Israel is God’s chosen people. He will keep all the promises He has made to them as a nation.

6. God’s mercy and grace extend to all who repent.

7. God’s grace is greater than your sin.

8. “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’
    They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
    there is none who does good.” Psalm 14:1 ESV

9. “The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 ESV

10. “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” John 6.37 ESV

11. “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 ESV

12. Application:

·        God prefers that you repent rather than having to judge or discipline you. See 2 Peter 3.9

·        God does not cast out those who come to Him in repentance. See John 6:37

·        The wise man will walk in the ways of the Lord and not look to the right or the left. See Hebrews 12: 2
