Gospel of John 20:19-29
Lessons Learned

1. Some of the disciples’ fear can be attributed to the fact that they had been accused of stealing the body of Jesus. Matthew 28:13
2. The glorified body of Jesus was not subject to physical restraints.
3. Jesus provided the evidence needed for the disciples to believe.
4. The mission of Jesus:
· I have come to call sinners to repentance. Luke 5:32
· To preach the gospel to the poor. Luke 7:22
· Unless you repent, you will perish. Luke 13:5
· To seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10
5. The marching orders for the apostles.
· I am sending you to continue the ministry.
· Be empowered with the Holy Spirit.
· The gospel is about forgiveness found in Jesus.
6. It is our responsibility to present the gospel to our generation in the power of the Holy Spirit.
7. Church tradition states that Thomas took the gospel across southern India before dying as a martyr.
8. “Whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.” 1 Peter 1:8
9. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
10. Application:
· Some people will have doubts and will be slow to respond to the gospel message.
· The Bible provides sufficient evidence to believe that Jesus was physically resurrected.
· Believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to tell others that they can experience forgiveness because Jesus died to pay for their sins and rose again in victory over death.
